When Christine Pipes, a teacher at the Royal Grammar School in Jesmond Newcastle, entered the Simply Yours Brief to Bra competition she got her inspiration from two things, a set of recently purchased retro mugs and some cupcakes baked for her school’s charity week.
"The appeal of cupcakes in the retro design and the feminine pastel shades are subtle but still vibrant. My aim was to find a balance between the comfort and practicality of everyday wear and the elegance and femininity that all women should embrace.” Christine Pipes.
The design will be produced and sold both in the Simply Yours catalogue and online at www.simplyyours.co.uk. In addition Christine will be involved in the development of the lingerie set, from the materials sourcing stage right through to the final product photo shoot.
You can track Christine’s journey over the coming months on the Facebook Fan Page “From Brief to Bra” (www.facebook.com/FromBriefToBra)
Neandra Etienne is a freelance lifestyle journalist based in East London (which thanks to the 2012 Olympics is now considered the place to be) She has worked for various magazines and websites and whilst working at Cosmo was presented with an award for being the Hardest Working Fashion Cupboard Helper. During her time as a showbiz journalist she interviewed Britney (very nice, liked to chat) Pink (nothing much to say) Beyonce twice (very programmed, a little too media trained) and Mariah Carey (very sweet but shy) She can often be found hunting for anything vintage on eBay, in car boot sales, jumble sales and charity shops (picked up a nice Biba top for £3.99) wishing she was a teenager and it was still the 1970s.
